Club president shares plans for 'three or four' more signings; Manchester City stars have been linked
FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has claimed that he wants up to four more signings this summer, with a slew of Manchester City players being linked to the La Liga giants recently.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, the Barcelona president announced that the club will bring in more players in the window.
The Catalan side have already signed both Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia from City. Memphis Depay also joined the club this week on a free transfer.
Barcelona are keen on multiple Manchester City players
A handful of Manchester City players have been linked with a move to Barcelona in recent weeks.
Aymeric Laporte is reportedly keen to push for a transfer to the European giants as per Sport. Whilst the likes of Joao Cancelo and Bernardo Silva are eager on a move to the Blaugrana according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Athletic reported that Silva was close to a move to Barcelona last summer. However, a transfer broke down in the final stages of negotiations.
The Sun also claim that Ilkay Gundogan is keen on a move to the Catalan side. But City are intent on keeping the German international for next season.
‘Three or four more signings’
Despite some impressive signings already this window and a reported debt of over €1bn according to Forbes, Laporta has signalled the club’s intention to bring in more players this summer.
The Barcelona president said: “There will be three or four more signings. We’re going to make a very competitive team. We’ve already seen it with the additions of Eric Garcia, Aguero and Emerson and the other players who are on the verge of signing.”
Although Laporta is ambitious in his words with what Barcelona can do this summer, it will be impressive if the club hadve the funds to make a move on any of City’s players.
Whilst the pull of the La Liga giants is alluring, Barcelona will struggle financially to sign Manchester City’s best players this summer.
