Club president refuses to promise that £25m star won’t be sold after Tottenham links

Tottenham have had quite the productive window compared to their Premier League rivals heading into the new season.

Spurs recently announced the £65m capture of Dominic Solanke, with the striker joining the likes of Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall through the front door at Tottenham this summer.

With Emerson Royal, Joe Rodon and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg all leaving having already seen Tanguy Ndombele, Ivan Perisic and Ryan Sessegnon leave as free-agents, a lot of deadwood has been cleared from the Tottenham squad for the new season.

And a club president has now suggested that a rumoured Tottenham target could be on the move.

LOSC Lille president suggests Tottenham-linked Jonathan David could leave

Speaking to RMC Sport, LOSC Lille president Olivier Letung hinted that Jonathan David could still leave this summer, even though the Ligue 1 side are in a good position financially after the sale of Leny Yoro to Manchester United.

Tottenham have been linked with David with the £25m-rated attacker regarded as one of the most productive forwards in France, with a Premier League move potentially on the cards this summer in the final weeks of the window.

And Letung has hinted that David could leave, with the official saying: “I’m not going to make promises today that I can’t keep, but it’s true that the further we go, the more likely it is he stays with us. I said last week that he could leave if, and only if, we were able to replace him.

“The closer we get to the end of the transfer window, the more complicated it is to find a high-quality striker like Jonathan. We have the ability to keep him, because we are not under pressure from an economic point of view. We are very happy to have him. He is very happy to be with us, very happy to be at the club, with what he is experiencing. I would say that anything is possible.”

David could thrive at Spurs competing with Solanke

With Tottenham already spending big to sign Solanke this summer, moving for David would come across as an unusual move for some supporters given that the two forwards are both good enough to start.

Yet with Tottenham back in Europe and Ange Postecoglou a fan of squad rotation, David could thrive at Spurs whilst competing with Solanke, with the two strikers ideal for the north London side this season.

Indeed, David more than deserves a move to the Premier League after his impressive goalscoring antics with Lille, and competing with Solanke could bring the best out of the two attackers at Tottenham.
