The stars appear to be aligning for Tottenham Hotspur to finally sign Tanguy Ndombele.
Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has admitted that the coveted midfielder wants to leave the club this summer, amid constant links to the north London giants.
Ndombele is thought to be one of Spurs’ top targets this summer, with the club having lost Mousa Dembele back in January.
The French dynamo’s stock is sky high having impressed both domestically and in Europe for Lyon in 2018/19.
Speaking at new signing Jean Lucas’ (arguably Ndombele’s replacement) presentation, Aulas said (quoted by football.london): “It would have to be a very substantial offer to advance with Tanguy, who would prefer to leave.
“If he left – which isn’t the case today – we would look to recruit someone with experience. For the moment nothing has happened, but the door is ajar.”
This is excellent news for Spurs fans.
It has been a long, drawn out saga so far – and it will probably continue on for some time yet.
But Aulas’ comments are very encouraging, especially after Ndombele recently spoke about Tottenham being a big club (Telefoot).
Lyon signing Lucas from Flamengo is a big development as the 21-year-old is a box-to-box midfielder just like Ndombele, which implies a sale is in the offing.
