Besiktas officials will reportedly fly to England to discuss the potential transfer of Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles.
The Magpies captain has recently been linked with a move to the Turkish giants, with Newcastle open to selling a number of players to balance out their current FFP restrictions.
And Lascelles has now emerged as a target for Besiktas, with the 30-year-old defender’s contract with Newcastle due to expire at the end of this season.

Now, according to Fotomac, Besiktas officials are this week set to jet off to Tyneside to try and sign Lascelles, with the report stating that Newcastle are not interested in selling the centre-back.
Lauded by Eddie Howe as a ‘superb’ professional, it makes sense why Newcastle might have little interest in wanting to offload Lascelles this January.
However, with the defender’s contract expiring and Newcastle in need of funds, selling Lascelles could be one way for the Magpies to strengthen their squad in the final days of the winter window.
Newcastle could soon consider Besiktas’ Jamaal Lascelles proposal

With just over a week of the transfer market remaining, Newcastle’s situation could now be starting to hit home, with the Magpies in need of new signings.
As a result, the Toon could soon consider Besiktas’ proposal for Lascelles, with the Turkish side clearly interested in signing the Newcastle defender this January.
Indeed, whilst it is unknown how much Besiktas could offer for Lascelles, any fee could help Newcastle in their bid to qualify for Europe, with new signings needed at St. James’ Park.
