Leeds United’s path to signing one of their top transfer targets may be about to open up as Blackburn Rovers close in on a new signing.
Leeds have been linked with a move for Sammie Szmodics in recent days.
Of course, Szmodics would be a fantastic signing for Leeds after a remarkable run of form in the Championship last season.
Leeds want to sign the attacker, but, of course, before Blackburn let him go, they need to find a replacement.
Luckily, it sounds as though Blackburn are closing in on a deal to sign another attacker to replace Szmodics now.

Blackburn closing in on Sammie Szmodics replacement
Indeed, according to Alan Nixon, writing on his Patreon, Blackburn Rovers are moving for Japanese attacker Yuki Ohashi as a potential Sammie Szmodics replacement.
According to Nixon, a £1m fee has been discussed in Japan, but a deal could be struck for an even smaller sum.
This deal appears to be nearing completion as an updated report on Wednesday morning has stated that Ohashi is flying in to sign a three-year deal with Rovers.
That should open the door for Szmodics to leave, and Leeds may be ready to pounce.
Leeds could get Sammie Szmodics
According to The Mirror, Leeds United are in pole position to sign Szmodics this summer.
You don’t need us to tell you why this would be an exceptional signing.
If Leeds were lacking one thing last season it was a reliable goalscorer, so why not go and sign a player who scored 27 Championship goals last season on his way to the Golden Boot?
Make no mistake about it, Leeds aren’t cutting any corners in their hunt for promotion this time around, and signing Szmodics would be a real statement of intent.
Of course, there’s a long way to go before the ‘deadly’ striker joins Leeds, but the arrival of Ohashi should open the door for a move.
