Chelsea have been very busy this summer.

Enzo Maresca has seen plenty of attackers added to his squad, with Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens and Joao Pedro – who scored a remarkable double on his full debut – arriving at Stamford Bridge.

However, a new central defender is still wanted. TBR Football understand Chelsea are monitoring Yann Bisseck of Inter Milan after his excellent 2024/25 campaign, in which he helped the Italian giants reach the UEFA Champions League final.

Now, there has been a positive update on the Germany international for Chelsea.

Inter Milan have already accounted for the sale of Yann Bisseck amid Chelsea interest

Corriere dello Sport in Italy now state that Inter Milan are not only willing to sell the German this summer, but they have already budgeted for his sale.

Bisseck has a €120m (£103m) release clause in his contract at the San Siro, but with Inter Milan in need of sales to finance the rest of their summer transfer window, they are happy to take €40m (£34m) according to the Italian news outlet.

That undoubtedly represents an enticing market opportunity for Chelsea.

Corriere dello Sport add that it was the representatives of Bisseck who requested the release clause be inserted into his contract – which he signed back in November – which suggests the man born in Cologne is certainly open to leaving Inter Milan.

Chelsea could be waiting for Marc Guehi

Given Inter Milan’s willingness to sell, this deal seems like a simple one for Chelsea to wrap up.

However, the delay in opening talks with Inter Milan suggests the Blues are waiting for someone else, potentially Marc Guehi.

TBR Football understand Chelsea view Guehi as a primary target despite their admiration for Bisseck, and the England international seems likely to leave Crystal Palace this summer after entering the final 12 months of his contract.

However, Liverpool are also keen on Guehi, so if the Reds manage to sign the Crystal Palace captain, Chelsea could possibly step up their interest in Bisseck.
