Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim in recent weeks.
Now, a new report from Record has claimed that the Spurs target’s club is sweating over his future.
The Portuguese outlet – via Sport Witness – claims Lions president Frederico Varandas has ‘frozen’ summer signings for now.

Sporting’s summer transfers have so far been planned with Amorim in mind.
Now, due to the uncertainty over his future amid links with Tottenham, the Portuguese club is holding fire for now.
Record says Amorim knows Tottenham like him. He is part of a ‘restricted list of candidates’ to take charge of Spurs.
The outlet claims Tottenham and Chelsea are the frontrunners for Amorim.
However, with the Blues seemingly closing in on Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs are the likelier candidates for the 38-year-old.
Amorim reportedly wants to focus on seeing the season out and then sit with his agent and evaluate any incoming offers in the close season.
Our view
Amorim has proven himself to be an “incredible” young manager with a bright future in the game.
Surely it won’t be long before a big career move beckons, so it’s good to hear Spurs are reportedly keen.
As per Herald Scotland, Amorim has been deemed ‘the best Portuguese coach of his generation and one of the most exciting in Europe’.

He has also overseen a superb win over Arsenal in the Europa League. Spurs fans will no doubt be happy if a manager who knows how to beat the Gunners arrives at N17.
There’s a fair bit of noise coming from Portugal suggesting Sporting are worried about losing Amorim to another club.
Let’s see what happens in the coming months as Tottenham look to bring in a new manager for the future and bounce back to Pochettino-like heights.
