Daniel Levy has earned the reputation of a tough negotiator during his years at Tottenham Hotspur.
The Spurs chairman certainly drives a hard bargain and he’s no different when it comes to selling players.
You only have to look at Tottenham’s biggest sales over the years to know that, with Gareth Bale joining Real Madrid for a then world-record fee of £85 million in 2013.
Spurs also picked up a fee worth up to £100 million for Harry Kane last summer, despite the striker being 30 years of age with just a year left on his contract.
Daniel Levy is not known to budge when smaller transfer fees are involved either and it would appear that Genoa are finding that out the hard way in their pursuit of Djed Spence.

Genoa could pull out of Djed Spence deal
Spence looked set to make his loan switch to Genoa permanent a couple of weeks ago but negotiations have since stalled.
After being locked in talks with Spurs, GiveMeSport claims the Serie A club are threatening to pull out of the deal over Tottenham’s asking price.
It’s claimed that talks between the two sides have broken down, with Genoa wishing to snap up Spence for a fee worth around £6 million, which is £2.5 million less than the agreed option to buy.
The full-back is keen for a fresh challenge but Genoa have started to look at alternative options after growing frustrated during negotiations with Levy.

Spence Tottenham exit in doubt
Spence’s £20 million switch to Tottenham back in 2021 just hasn’t worked out and it seems apparent that he’ll head out the door this summer.
Despite Genoa’s frustrations, you can understand why Levy is keen to pick up the full £8.5 million for Spence. The two clubs agreed on the fee in January when Spence made the move to Italy.
With that being said, Spence is clearly keen on the move and he doesn’t feature in Postecoglou’s plans moving forward. To that end, there must be a compromise to be had from both sides.
