ACF Fiorentina are reportedly interested in signing Aston Villa forward Nicolo Zaniolo, who could again be on the move.

The Italian international joined the Villa Park side last summer on loan with Villa holding an option to buy the Galatasaray star at the end of the season.

Lauded as ‘extraordinary’ by Roberto Mancini, Zaniolo has found himself as a squad player under Unai Emery this season, with the 24-year-old playing under 1,000 minutes this campaign.

And according to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, there’s now a chance that Fiorentina could move for Zaniolo, who could be tempted by a return to Italy.

Pedulla said: “I don’t rule it out, he’s always an obsession [for Fiorentina]. It would be another triangulation, he can’t stay six months at a club going elsewhere. He’s still young, but he’s coming up to 25.”

“At Aston Villa, he’s in and out, I don’t even know how ready he is. When you work in the January market you always backtrack on goals you failed to achieve. Maybe he goes to Saudi Arabia next summer. Zaniolo, however, I wouldn’t take him out of the loop 100%’.”

Whilst Zaniolo has impressed in patches for Villa, it’s clear that the former AS Roma wonderkid is unlikely to stay with the Premier League side beyond this season.

Yet with Fiorentina already interested in signing Zaniolo, the Tuscany-based club could be a dream move for the Galatasaray-owned player.

As we know, Zaniolo is a fantastic talent who on his day is unstoppable, and a return to Italy could be what’s needed to unlock his true potential once again.
