Ex-Tottenham Hotspur star Clive Allen believes Harry Kane is currently the best striker in the world.
The former Spurs hitman was speaking on talkSPORT following his former club’s 5-0 demolition of Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League, in which in-form Kane hit a brace.
The England captain struck in each half at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to take his tally to 15 for club and country for the season.
Despite the team’s recent struggles as a collective, it’s been something of another purple patch for Kane this season, and Allen reckons there is nobody better in his position right now.
He said: “For me, he is the best number nine in the world at the moment. What you see in Harry Kane, and it was certainly evident last night, is that he’s an incredible goalscorer.
“But his game now, his vision, his execution of pass, the way he links up play…
“What’s he worth? £200million? He’s got to be, minimum.”
TBR’s view – Kane isn’t quite top dog right now
While Kane is probably worth around £200 million taking into account his goalscoring record, all-round ability, age and contract length, at this moment in time he arguably isn’t quite top dog when it comes to strikers.
Cristiano Ronaldo can be considered better although some are reluctant to include him in comparisons to other strikers as he does tend to move wide sometimes. He is also often seen as incomparable along with Lionel Messi.
Robert Lewandowski is in the form of his life right now having scored 20 already for Bayern Munich all competitions this season.
Kane is probably the most valuable striker out there at the moment, but arguably on the pitch the Poland international is blowing away the competition at present.
