Clinton Morrison says Tottenham’s collapse began when Tanguy Ndombele went off

Former Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison found a positive from Tottenham’s 7-2 home thumping at the hands of Bayern Munich last night, in the shape of Tanguy Ndombele.

As per TalkSport, Morrison said that the Frenchman has been an impressive signing and the rot set in when he was taken off in favour of Christian Eriksen just past the hour mark, with the score at 4-2.

He said: “The biggest problem is Daniel Levy. You have to [Mauricio Pochettino], he wanted to bring in more players in the summer to go and compete. Back your manager. Ndombele I think will be a good signing.

“That has been a really good signing. I thought he was good. I thought when he came off yesterday, that’s when Tottenham started to deteriorate and not play that well. He was doing well in midfield.”

TBR’s View – Ndombele shows that Pochettino can pick out a gem if the money is there

It has become a lazy criticism in football to say that spending money is the solution. A manager has to show that he can spend it wisely and clubs need to have robust scouting measures in place to ensure that too.

With the signing of Ndombele, Pochettino has shown that he’s got an eye for a gem when the money is there to spend money on one.

He does look to be what Tottenham needed and that should build confidence that Giovani Lo Celso and Ryan Sessegnon will also prove to be hits when they recover from injury.
