Clinton Morrison has told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (broadcast on 2/11; 17:37) that Allan Saint-Maximin was unplayable during Newcastle United’s win over West Ham United.
Steve Bruce’s side have pulled four points clear of the relegation zone after an impressive win at the London Stadium. The Magpies took a 3-0 lead inside 51 minutes. And the visitors managed to keep the Hammers at bay after they set up a tense finish with two late goals.

Jonjo Shelvey will, understandably, take many of the headlines following his performance. But Morrison picked out Saint-Maximin as one of the players who impressed him.
“He was unplayable,” he told Soccer Saturday. “I don’t know how you defend against players like that because he doesn’t look like he knows what he’s going to do, so I don’t know how defenders feel when he’s getting at them. Every time they broke, they looked like they were going to score.”

Saint-Maximin missed a couple of good chances. But his overall performance shows why so many Newcastle fans are delighted that he joined the club in the summer.
He is actually yet to provide a goal or assist in the Premier League. But his displays have often given the Toon Army something to smile about when the performances have been underwhelming.
It appears to be a matter of time before he does start scoring and directly providing for his teammates.
And when that happens, Newcastle may well feel that they have the potential to really pull away from the bottom three.
