Sky Sports pundit Clinton Morrison believes Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford cannot be relied upon in front of goal.
Morrison said on The Debate that there are also question marks over how quickly January signing Jean-Kevin Augustin can adapt to the demands of the Championship.
He said: “It feels like it’s happening all over again. Leeds fans will be worrying. Not scoring enough goals, they create so many chances but don’t put the ball in the back of the net. They’ve just brought in Augustin who maybe can compete.
“But how long is it going to take him to adapt to the Championship? It’s a hard league. There’s a lot of quality. They’re relying too much on Patrick Bamford and he’s not going to deliver week in, week out.”
TBR’s View – Bielsa is too stubborn to change course now
We all know the situation around Bamford by now. He scores goals in spurts but not enough. He has been a strange fit for a high-tempo side given his languid style.
But Bielsa has hung his hat on him for two seasons now, even moreso this time around given the departure of Kemar Roofe and that’s not going to change in the closing weeks of the season.
Augustin will have to go through the period of adjustment all Leeds signings under Bielsa must undertake and that means it’s likely he’ll remain as deputy. Bielsa will continue to rely on Bamford once more and see where it takes him.
