Clinton Morrison has told Sky Sports News (31/01; 08:02 am) that he is disappointed to see Jarrod Bowen potentially on his way to West Ham United.
The Hull City winger is on his way to the capital for a medical with Hammers, according to the Daily Star.
Bowen had been linked with a switch to Morrison’s former club Crystal Palace yesterday.
The Daily Mail suggested that the Eagles had seen a £16 million bid accepted for the man with 17 goals this season.
Former Palace striker Morrison was a guest on Deadline Day Breakfast and took a small swipe at the Hammers.
He told Sky Sports (31/01; 08;02 am): “I think Bowen is a great player. I’m just a bit disappointed that he’s going to West Ham for a relegation battle, rather than a comfortable season in mid-table at Crystal Palace.”
Bowen has been in magnificent form this season and has really come of age in the Hull team.
His 17 goals and seven assists have naturally seen several clubs interested in securing his services.
Morrison’s comments on the man set to move for £20 million (Sky Sports Live Transfer Blog, 31/01; 08:00 am) are pretty accurate to be totally honest.
Bowen could have spent the rest of the season settling into life in the Premier League without much chance of relegation.
Instead, he will head to the London Stadium where West Ham are level on points with Watford who currently sit 19th.
Bowen arriving could hand the Hammers a significant boost in their quest for survival.
If the deal goes through, Palace will look on with intrigue as the 22-year-old settles into life in the Premier League.
West Ham fans will hope he hits the ground running and rams Morrison’s subtle dig back down his throat.
