Cliff Jones urges Tottenham to sign Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale

It would appear that the Welshman would be willing to leave Spain this summer.

Former Tottenham Hotspur hero has called on the club to bring Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale back to the Premier League this summer.

The man who spent 10 years at Tottenham, winning the double in 1960/61 made the demand on his Twitter account last night.

It comes after Bale admitted to Sky Sports that he would consider a return to the Premier League if Los Blancos let him leave.

The 31-year-old endured a torrid time of things during 2019/20, scoring three goals and claiming two assists from 20 appearances in all competitions.

Wales international Bale was way down Zinedine Zidane’s pecking order though and his days at the Bernabeu do look to be numbered.

Jones is in no mind as to where the forward should head to if the Spanish champions do allow him to leave this summer, posting his suggestion on Twitter.

Bale signed for Madrid from Tottenham for £85 million back in 2013, agreeing on a deal worth £300,000-a-week to the player (BBC).

Initially, he proved a revelation at the Spanish giants and his numbers for the club are pretty decent.

The 83-cap international has scored 105 goals and claimed 68 assists, winning four Champions League crowns, the Copa del Rey twice and La Liga on two occasions.

Bale is far too good to be kicking his heels on the sidelines, however, and his latest claim will surely alert plenty of clubs.

At Tottenham, he is worshipped though and surely the supporters there would welcome him back with open arms.

Boss Jose Mourinho knows he must try and ensure a Champions League return next season and Bale would certainly help with that ambition.
