Claudio Marchisio, Juventus and Italian football legend, is also a fan of one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players to grace the Anfield turf.

Arne Slot’s current Liverpool side possesses a team of absolute footballing superstars, and that’s always been the case for the Reds over the years.

But there’s one iconic name that sticks out more than most, and that’s Steven Gerrard, who epitomises absolutely everything about Liverpool FC.

For that reason, he has adoring fans across the globe, and seemingly in Italy.

Italian icon Claudio Marchisio is one of Gerrard’s supporters, with the former World Cup winner issuing high praise to the former midfielder.

In an interview with TNT Sports Italy, he was tasked to build his perfect player, and his list went as follows:

• Left foot: Guti
• Runs into space: Marchisio
• Vision: Busquets
• Passing accuracy: Steven Gerrard
• Goal sense: Arturo Vidal
• Time on ball: Andres Iniesta
• Tackling: Gattuso

The Liverpool icon was the first name to come to mind when passing was considered, which fellow Italian Andrea Pirlo may have something to say about.

Gerrard was immense, and that’s testament to some of the praise he’s received.

Another legend, this time Spanish striker Fernando Torres, knew when the pair played together just how good Gerrard’s passing range was.

“I’m spoilt having a team-mate like Gerrard, as I can count on him supplying me with perfect passes. You make the run into space and, however tightly marked he is, he finds a way to get the ball through in perfect condition.

“The highest compliment I can pay him is that he’s as creative as a Xavi at Barcelona, with something extra as well. When you add his energy, toughness, leadership, and goalscoring ability, the result is a fantastic all-round player. He is without doubt the greatest player I have ever played with – he has everything.”
