Classy Arsenal fans wish Bellerin well as he departs for Real Betis
In the final hours of the transfer window, Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin secured a loan move away to Real Betis.
The last few years have not been easy at all for Bellerin as the Spaniard has battled with both injury issues and poor form.
The 26-year-old missed almost the entirety of 2019 with a ruptured cruciate ligament (Transfermarkt) and has struggled for form since his return from that lengthy absence.
The right-back has failed to feature in any of the Gunners three opening Premier League games, with Calum Chambers and Cedric Soares being preferred in the right-back position.
Now, though, Bellerin has a fantastic opportunity to get away from the scrutiny of Arsenal fans and the English media as he’s signed for Real Betis on a season-long loan.
This marks a return to Spain for the first time in ten years since he signed for Arsenal from Barcelona’s youth system as a 16-year-old back in 2011 (Daily Mail).
Time will tell whether or not Bellerin still has a future at Arsenal.
Between 2015/16 and 2017/18 seasons, the defender missed just ten Premier League games out of a possible 114 (Transfermarkt).
Since then, however, he’s been far from a regular starter for the club, as a result of his injury and the lack of form that followed it.
Whilst Bellerin left The Emirates, Arsenal made the move to sign Takehiro Tomiyasu (Sky Sports) to step into the right-back role.
If the Japanese international fails to settle and struggles to perform in North London then the window could still be there for Bellerin to revive his Arsenal career should he perform whilst in La Liga this season.
Either way, these Arsenal fans want the best for the player, and you can read what they have to say here:
He’s been 100% professional the entire time, has in fact given his all on the pitch and got unlucky with a terrible injury – from which he never fully recovered. Have some respect— TK AFC (@tkteakster) August 31, 2021
