‘Thank you so much’, ‘stronger than ever’: Some Arsenal fans erupt over club message

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to praise the Gunners’ reassuring update about how the club is getting on, in particular the news on head coach Mikel Arteta.

English football is currently on hiatus until 30 April at the earliest at the world battles one of the most significant global public health emergencies in recent times.

Arteta tested positive for the illness on Thursday 12 March, one of the updates which prompted the Premier League to initially suspend their fixtures until 3 April.

The following day, the Arsenal boss informed fans that he was on the mend, before his wife Lorena took to Instagram to confirm that he was “feeling fine, he is well”.

On Thursday, Arsenal issued “an update from your club” to their fans, urging people to follow official advice to protect themselves and those around them.

The Gunners also gave updates on day-to-day operations involving the training centres, the Highbury House office, their retail stores and the players and staff.

Regarding Arteta, Arsenal wrote: “We’re pleased to say that Mikel is feeling much better. He’s in good spirits, doing detailed planning with the coaches and speaking to the players regularly.”

Plenty of pleased and relieved Arsenal fans responded on social media with well-wishes:
