Former England defender Rio Ferdinand has offered his verdict on who is going to win the Premier League after Sunday’s summit meeting between Manchester City and Liverpool.

The sides played out a 2-2 draw at the Etihad Stadium which keeps City ahead in the chase for the trophy.

Some people may expect that no more points will be dropped by either side before the end of the season, although Ferdinand does not expect that to be the case.

Speaking on his FIVE YouTube channel, he said that he expects Pep Guardiola’s side to retain their title, even with some slip-ups to come.

When asked who will win the title after the weekend’s action, Ferdinand said: “City.

“I think there will still be bumps… I think there will still be points dropped along the way. I don’t think both teams will go winning all games.”

You would ordinarily expect some points to go astray somewhere but the run-in during 2018/19 was so high quality and consistent.

That means that potentially both sides could win every game from here on out, while going deep into European competitions.

That would be astounding consistency and mentality and those are the standards that the sides are drawing from each other in this race.

On paper, it is hard to see where they will slip up, but fatigue and other factors can come into play with the pressure on and no room for error.
