Cillian Sheridan responds to Celtic fan when asked about Patryk Klimala

Celtic are reportedly closing in on the signing of Jagielliona Bialystok striker Patryk Klimala and former Hoops star Cillian Sheridan has delivered his verdict on his 2017-18 teammate – when asked by a Celtic fan on Twitter.

STV have claimed that 21-year-old Klimala is set to agree a move to Celtic for £3.4million, which is the player’s release clause at Jagielliona. He has scored seven goals in 17 top-tier Polish league games, and is a member of Poland’s Under-21 side.

Klimala joined Jagielliona in the summer of 2016 and has remained there since, while former Hoops star Sheridan joined the Polish side in February 2017 and lasted two years at the club – the ex-Celt scoring 20 goals in 62 games.

Asked by a Celtic fan on Twitter what Klimala was like, Sheridan responded by telling Hoops fans that the young Polish ace will score goals for Celtic – and the three-time Ireland international also urged supporters to trust the scouts.

TBR’s view – Young and unproven, is Klimala what Celtic need?

The Scottish champions certainly need a striker, with Leigh Griffiths struggling to get back playing regularly and Vakoun Bayo so far proving to be a complete waste of money. Odsonne Edouard needs top-quality cover.

Klimala is in very good form this season, but he has only scored 11 goals in 50 games for Jagielliona. Sheridan had a better goals-to-game ratio at Jagielliona than Klimala – but the Hoops scouts have obviously seen something in the Pole.

At £3.4million, he seems to a very expensive risk – time will tell.
