An injury crisis has hit Celtic as they go into a crucial Europa League away match against RB Leizpig tonight.
That has reportedly forced Brendan Rodgers to turn to some of his fringe players in pursuit of a result that would give the Bhoys a foothold in Group B.
Eboue Kouassi, Jozo Simunovic, Lewis Morgan and Ryan Christie are all apparently set to get the nod from the off, as Rodgers looks to secure a victory that would be very impressive indeed.
For Christie, starting such a big match gives him the opportunity to start the path back towards signing a new Celtic contract.
The midfielder has only completed 90 minutes on one occasion this season and with his contract expiring at the end of the current campaign, he needs to impress in order to get the wheels rolling on a new one.
Craig Gordon has also laid down the gauntlet to the fringe players who are going to be thrust in centre stage; urging them to seize their chance to impress in such a big game.
For Christie, for whom opportunities have been hard to come by, this surely represents his last big chance to impress Rodgers. The clock is ticking on his Celtic career, he must take it.
