Christiansen signing now a free agent after Instagram post, should Leeds re-sign?

Leeds United’s hunt for promotion this season perhaps derailed in the second half of the campaign due to the Whites lack of a goalscoring centre-forward – but a former Thomas Christiansen signing could now help them.

Kemar Roofe netted 15 goals this season but spent a lot of time in the treatment room after January. Patrick Bamford was bought for around £10million, but he has failed to show anything near that value.

If Marcelo Bielsa stays, his priority will be to bring a striker that has proven he can score goals in the Championship. Now, he may be able to land a former Leeds star on a free transfer that can push the Whites to the Premier League.7

German powerhouse Lasogga – who played for Leeds during the 2017-18 campaign – posted a heartfelt message to Hamburger SV fans after his contract with the second-tier German side expired.

Lasogga scored 10 goals in 33 outings for Leeds, but the Whites struggled under Christiansen and then Paul Heckingbottom. Under Bielsa, he would surely reach the best of his abilities.

Indeed, the likes of Liam Cooper, Roofe, Kalvin Phillips and more have gone from good Championship players to being in line with a move to the Premier League.

The former Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen forward has impressed since returning to Hamburg from Leeds. He scored 19 goals in 31 matches this season, but at just 27 years of age, he is now a free agent.

Leeds need a player they can rely on to find the back of the net – like Chris Wood did before joining Burnley. Roofe is excellent, but not the number nine required. Bamford is not good enough, at least on last season’s showing.

Bielsa should hand Lasogga a second chance to shine at Elland Road – especially as he is available for nothing.
