Tottenham Hotspur produced a superb rearguard display to beat Southampton by two goals to one on Saturday afternoon, despite going down to 10 men after Serge Aurier was sent off – and Christian Eriksen has reacted on Instagram.

The 27-year-old has come under enormous criticism for his performances this season, after failing to get a move in the summer. Eriksen admitted that he wanted to leave Spurs, with his contract set to expire at the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

Considered one of Spurs’ best players, Eriksen has been left on the bench at times by Pochettino but when given the chance, he has done little to have an impact – with many claiming his mind is elsewhere.

However, Eriksen was crucial for Spurs on Saturday, supplying an excellent assist for Harry Kane’s winner in the 2-1 win. The Dane posted on Instagram after the match, describing “that winning feeling” with a picture.

TBR’s view – A turning point for Tottenham, and even Eriksen?

It has been a dismal week for Spurs. A poor second half in Greece saw Olympiakos come from two goals down to draw with Spurs, before the north Londoners lost to Leicester and then League Two side Colchester in the Carabao Cup on penalties.

It is a far cry from the heights of playing in the Champions League final back in May. But Spurs may have turned a dismal few days, with the well-fought win against Southampton.

The win, with 10 men, showed grit, determination and hard work. It showed Eriksen back to his best, Kane back to his best and even though Hugo Lloris made an awful error, he made a number of stunning saves. It could be a turning point for Spurs.
