Christian Eriksen scored his first Inter Milan goal on Thursday night in the Europa League and his former Tottenham teammate Eric Dier congratulated him on social media.
Eriksen completed a £16.9million (BBC) move to the Italian giants in the January transfer window
The attacking midfielder left Spurs a huge favourite, after scoring 69 goals and supplying 89 assists in 305 appearances for them.
His time in North London came to an end with his contract due to expire in the summer and he’s now started a fresh challenge in Serie A.
The Denmark international made his sixth appearance for Inter on Thursday during a European fixture away to Ludogorets and he scored for the first time since his Spurs exit.
After being set up Romelu Lukaku on the edge of the box, Eriksen fired a low shot past the goalkeeper and he will hope that can kickstart his best form at the San Siro.
“Hopefully first of many! Good first result, one more game to finish it off! And thank you all very much for the 2million followers here on Instagram!” Eriksen wrote on his personal account.
Ex-Spurs teammate Dier responded to the post by saying “yes maestro”.
Eriksen ended a six-and-a-half year spell with Spurs last month and it will take some time getting used to him not being in the match day squad.
He will be a top signing for Inter if gets back to his best, but there is a new playmaker starting to pull the strings for Jose Mourinho’s side and they are starting a new cycle.
Giovani Lo Celso has looked a breath of fresh air when he’s been on the pitch, as he’s got the vision and execution to carve through opponents.
He appears to be the ideal man to fill the void left by Eriksen and is so crucial moving forward.
