Christian Eriksen has now sent a message to one of his old Tottenham teammates to recognise his achievement.

The Denmark international spent seven years at Spurs from 2013 to 2020 before joining Inter Milan, helping the north Londoners reach the UEFA Champions League final in 2019.

Now – writing on Instagram – Christian Eriksen has sent a message to Tottenham No.33 Ben Davies

What Christian Eriksen sent to Ben Davies

The Dane has now congratulated Davies after the Welshman celebrated a decade at Tottenham.

Tuesday 23rd July marks ten years to the day since Spurs signed the Wales international in a £10m move from Swansea.

Davies has since racked up 330 appearances for Tottenham – scoring nine goals and providing 23 assists.

Eriksen was involved in 147 of those games.

To commemorate the 31-year-old’s decade at Spurs, Eriksen posted a photo of himself alongside the man from Neath on Instagram, along with three saluting emojis as his caption, a mark of respect for the defender’s achievement.

In a modern era of football where there is often so much turnover – both in the playing staff and also with coaches – it is truly rare to see a player spend ten years with one club, so Davies does deserve a round of applause for being such a loyal servant to Tottenham.

Tottenham have a decision to make

The Welshman is clearly a respected figure around Tottenham.

Heung-min Son even said Davies is like “family” to him, and Spurs clearly appreciate the defender as well, or else he would not have been kept for so long.

However, Tottenham now have a decision to make in that respect, as Davies only has 12 months remaining on his contract.

Despite his popularity, the Spurs No.33 is not the most vital player in Ange Postecoglou’s squad, making just 12 Premier League starts last season.

Therefore, Tottenham must decide whether to sell Davies now – in a window that could be the club’s last chance to recoup some cash from a sale – allow the defender to run his contract down, or offer him a new deal.

It remains to be seen what happens with Davies, although nobody can deny that he is clearly appreciated at Hotspur Way.
