Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela and Vlad Chiriches - The lowdown on Spurs' latest signings
Tottenham Hotspur yesterday signed three players, yes that’s right, three players in one day.
The first of the signings was Vlad Chiriches, a Romanian Central defender signed from Steau Bucharest for a fee of around £8.5m. Chiriches isn’t as well known as the other two, but he is a player that likes to get forward and is very good on the ball as well as in defence. He was most noticed when his old club played Chelsea and he managed to score a goal as well as impressing at the back. Will Chiriches become a bargain buy? Who knows but I’m very excited to see him in a Spurs shirt.
The second of the three signings is Erik Lamela from AS Roma, this signing has gotten Spurs fans very excited as they have been waiting for this for a while. Lamela was signed for a fee that could rise to £30m, meaning Spurs have broken their transfer record for a 3rd time this window. Lamela is a brilliant player with pace and quality on the ball and he should be what Spurs are looking for to replace Gareth Bale. Hopefully Lamela will prove a hit with not only Spurs fans but also fans of the Premier League.
The final signing of the day came at around 11pm as Andre Villas Boas confirmed signing of Ajax’s Christian Eriksen. This announcement came as music to the ears of Spurs fans. The Danish international was only signed for around £11.5m which looks to be a bargain. He only had 1 year left on his contract so Daniel Levy managed to get a brilliant deal for a player with bags of quality and potential.
This deal took their summer spending over £100m which also makes them the highest spenders in the Premier League for the current transfer window.
All three signings are very young and have lots of potential as well as quality, but they will have to prove themselves in the Premier League. All three have been registered in time to play in the big North London derby vs Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, but will any feature? I wouldn’t expect any to start but possibly a couple may make the bench but is spurs’ spending over? I could possibly see a deadline day signing or two, we will have to see.
