Burnley striker Chris Wood has claimed he expects his former club Leeds United to “build again” in the summer after a successful first year back in the Premier League.
Leeds, who were promoted as title winners last year from the Championship, have been a breath of fresh air this season in the top division.
Marcelo Biela’s side are 10th in the Premier League table right now with just three games left.
The Yorkshire giants have surpassed pre-season expectations by reaching the 50-point mark already, and they travel to Turf Moor next on Saturday to face Burnley in the league fixture.
Wood, 29, is the Burnley frontman in superb goalscoring form, netting eight times in his last eight league appearances.
Leeds know all about his quality due to the fact he scored 44 goals in 88 games during his spell at Elland Road when they were in the Championship.
“I think they’ve done absolutely fantastic,” Wood said, as quoted by Lancashire Live.
“They’ve had their great games and their not-so-good games, like everybody else. Overall I think they can say they’ve had a positive season.
“To finish in the top half of the Premier League can’t be sniffed at on your first go. I’m sure they’ll be looking to build again next season, go again and see where it takes them.”

TBR’s View:
Leeds’ sole aim going into this campaign had to be avoiding relegation from the Premier League, and they’ve passed that test with flying colours.
It’s an interesting prediction Wood makes about the Whites rebuilding in the summer window.
If you don’t strengthen your squad in-between windows, you can get caught out in the Premier League.
The Leeds supporters are extremely ambitious about where the club should be season upon season, and they’ll want a few fresh faces to try help them compete in the top half of the table.
