BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton has pleaded with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to improve the squad over the summer.

Spurs have not signed a single player during the last two consecutive transfer windows, but have still been fairly successful on the pitch.

The North London club have secured top four football for another season in the Premier League barring an eight-goal swing against them on the final day, while they are enjoying a European adventure too.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side are in the Champions League semi-finals, where they trail Dutch giants Ajax 1-0 on aggregate ahead of the second leg on Wednesday night.

Spurs have had some bad luck with injuries this campaign, which has highlighted a weakness to the squad.

Sutton claims that Levy has to sanction the investment of a few players to the squad over the summer, as he feels it needs some extra help.

“I can’t believe that Daniel Levy would sit and look at the end of this season and think that they can’t invest,” Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live.

“They didn’t invest last summer, it’s unthinkable for Spurs fans. They have hung in there, Champions League football, Champions League semi-final, possible final. They’re stretched, they need help.”

TBR’s View:

On their day Spurs are a match for any team and have proven that on countless occasion, with manager Pochettino the mastermind behind the success.

But they are still yet to get over the line for silverware with him at the helm and a couple more options in the squad could be the difference.

Harry Kane’s current absence leaves a major hole in their team and they are scare of quality midfielders in the centre of the park.

Spurs have had to manage moving into their new stunning ground, but to compete with the best for a sustained period they will need to inject some cash into transfers at some point soon.
