Chris Sutton takes aim at Celtic star Mohamed Elyounoussi during Sparta Prague defeat

Chris Sutton has told The Scottish Sun that Celtic should fine Mohamed Elyounoussi two weeks wages for using his phone after being substituted during the 4-1 defeat to Sparta Prague.

The Hoops are staring elimination from the Europa League full in the face, with Neil Lennon’s men claiming just a single point from their opening three games.

Leigh Griffiths scored what proved to be a consolation goal for Celtic. Lukas Julis and Ladislav Krejci both scored twice apiece to ensure a comprehensive night for the Czech outfit.

Elyounoussi was spotted by BT Sport cameras using his mobile phone after being withdrawn. Sutton has slammed the on-loan Southampton flyer for his antics.

He told The Scottish Sun: “There’s a player sitting in the stands tonight on his mobile phone.

“That is totally, totally, unacceptable.

“That’s scandalous. I mean, is he committed to the cause, is he committed to the club?

“Totally unacceptable.

“I’d fine him two weeks wages for that.”

It’s fair to say Celtic are in a bit of a mess right now with results going against Lennon.

His side are nine points shy of Rangers in the Scottish Premiership and although they have games in hand, things don’t seem right.

Having claimed a decent point against Lille in the Europa League, back-to-back wins against Sparta Prague would have put them in a decent position.

Instead, elimination now looks nailed on, leaving Lennon arguably clinging on to his job.

Elyounoussi’s antics won’t have pleased Southampton either.

Ralph Hasenhuttl is an honourable man and as a respected figure, he won’t be happy with the Norwegian’s latest antics.

The 26-year-old has been an important part of Lennon’s plans this season and it’ll be interesting to see if the club takes any action.
