Former Celtic hero Chris Sutton has taken to Twitter to label the Hoops’ showing against Ferencvaros in the Champions League as embarrassing.
The ex-talisman watched on as Celtic were knocked out before the group stages for the third successive seasons, following a 2-1 defeat to the Hungarian minnows.
Despite holding home advantage, Neil Lennon saw his team dominate the game but ultimately live to rue plenty of costly missed chances.
David Siger put Serhiy Rebrov’s team in the ascendency after just seven minutes, before Ryan Christie equalised in the 53rd minute.
Celtic saw plenty of the ball but were made to pay for their lack of composure in the final third when Tokmac Nguen fired him the winner 15 minutes from time.
Sutton wasn’t happy and took to Twitter to launch a scatching attack on the performance of the Hoops who must now prepare for the Europa League.
That’s a bad, bad night for Celtic. No excuses. Embarrassing. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail…

The big worry for Celtic supporters following last night must surely be the impact it might have on some of their top players.
The likes of Odsonne Edouard and Kristoffer Ajer know there’s no Champions League football on offer and might now seek out moves away from Celtic Park.
Lennon has some firefighting to do and it really is a case of going full steam ahead towards winning their tenth league title in succssion now.
Ferencvaros don’t have a bad pedigreee when it comes to European competition but Sutton is spot on when he implies this was a disastrous chapter in the history of Celtic.
