There’s always going to be some sort of rivalry between Scottish football fans and English football fans.
Since the very first international fixture was played, Scottish fans and English fans have been at each other, and that still continues to this day.
As many will know, Chris Sutton is a real advocate of Scottish football – often backing Celtic as one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Speaking on BBC 606, Sutton fielded a call from an Everton fan who was far from happy with the pundit’s comments after the Toffees’ loss to West Ham at the weekend.
The supporter had a dig at Sutton and the Scottish League after Everton’s loss, to which Sutton had an interesting response.
Indeed, in response to this supporter, Sutton claimed that Celtic or Rangers would easily beat Everton at the moment.

Celtic would beat Everton
Sutton shared his verdict on how a game between Celtic and Everton would go.
“We’re not all in that poxy Scottish league where 3-1 or 4-1 is comfortable win,” One fan said.
“Take it out on Scottish football. Just imagine if Celtic and Rangers had wasted the money your team (Everton) had over the past decade, you’ve spent half a billion, the team are rotten. Half a billion and you’re having a pop at Scottish football. Celtic or Rangers would probably beat Everton at this moment in time, comfortably,” Sutton said.
Hard to say
It’s very hard to say how a game between Celtic and Everton would go.
On one hand, Everton are in poor form, but, at the same time, their squad is much more expensive and packed full of bigger names.
However, Celtic are, by and large, in the habit of winning, and they do have some very talented players in their squad, but, at the same time, they were beaten by Hearts at the weekend.
It would be very interesting to see how Celtic or Rangers got on against any of these lower-end Premier League sides as the debate about Scottish football’s quality rumbles on.
