If there is one person the Celtic fans listen to when it comes to their club it’s Chris Sutton.
The former Celtic hero is generally very open and honest with his views on the club. Generous in his praise, Sutton also has no fear to tell it how it is if he sees something going on that he believes is not quite right.
And after Celtic’s 1-1 draw with Aberdeen on Saturday, Sutton was seriously questioning Rodgers and the recruitment department after they failed to make one key signing in the January window.
Sutton said [BBC 606], “Surely there must have been someone else in world football who could have gone and done a better job than Bernabei and today took him off.
“And he brought an Anthony Ralston a right-footed, or a right back, and he went onto the left-hand side.
“And I mean, that summed things up, didn’t it?
“So there are a lot of Celtic fans saying well, hang on a minute Celtic should have strengthened in that position.
“And I am questioning Brendan Rodgers. And I am questioning the club and why they didn’t recruit in that area because even with Greg Taylor, at the highest level at Champions League level, even he’s sort of found wanting.”
Celtic knew about Taylor’s injury with seven days of the transfer window to go. That should have been enough time for the club to identify a player who was better than Alexandro Bernabei.
In fact, you would imagine Rodgers had already identified targets beforehand considering how he felt about the Argentine as soon as he joined the club.

With Bernabei found to be at fault for the Aberdeen opener on Saturday, Rodgers finds himself in an impossible position now.
Drop his only natural left-back and risk playing Ralston out of position or continue playing Bernabei and hope that he comes good.
I know what I would be doing. Ralston has to come in because at least with him, you know you will always get 100% from the Scotland full-back.
