Chris Sutton says “talented” 25-year-old linked with Manchester City would “add something new”
Chris Sutton has claimed that reported Manchester City target Jack Grealish would be able to bring a new dimension to the side at the Etihad Stadium.
Man City, who are preparing for tomorrow’s Champions League final with Chelsea, are one game away from completing a treble this season.
After winning the Premier League and Carabao Cup, they need to beat Chelsea to wrap up a treble.
Despite the focus on the European cup final, transfer speculation continues to surface about them.
The Daily Mail reports Man City have their eye on Villa captain Grealish.
It is explained Pep Guardiola’s side are interested in the £100million-rated attacker, with early takes already underway.
Grealish, who earns £120,000-a-week (Spotrac), is a left-winger that will be hoping to star for England this summer at Euro 2020. He scored seven goals and managed 12 assists in 27 games across all competitions this season.
Pundit Sutton believes the “talented” Villa ace could bring something extra to the Man City XI.
“If Guardiola is willing to go out and spend £100million on a player, he’s going to play,” Sutton wrote for the Daily Mail.
“Grealish is such a talented player, and would fit right in to Guardiola’s system of keeping the ball and dominating possession.
“No matter what options City already have, if Grealish went there I’m sure he would add something new.
“Grealish is 25 now, and you want to finish your career having won major trophies. He has a much better chance of doing that at City than Villa.”
Grealish at Manchester City could be unstoppable
For a mid-table Villa side, Grealish looked one of the best in the Premier League when fully fit.
He’s a flair attacker that attracts several defenders to him. Remarkably, he usually finds a way of skipping past opponents like they don’t exist.
It’s hard to picture Man City with more attacking firepower. They already have so many devastating attackers to rip through defences.
Grealish definitely deserves a move though with his talent to one of the elite clubs in the world, but whether he would love his boyhood club Villa remains to be seen.
Him with more time on the ball would guarantee more magic. The £100million quoted price is the only big talking point with any deal. For Man City, are they prepared to splash the cash on another forward player?
Grealish could potentially convince everyone of that price tag at Euro 2020. He definitely has a special quality.
