Chris Sutton says Liverpool have a 'sensational' talent in their ranks
Chris Sutton has waxed lyrical about Liverpool star Mohamed Salah, also appearing baffled as to why the Reds haven’t offered him a new contract yet.
The 29-year-old has been superb throughout his time at Anfield, including last season when other players suffered downturns in form.
Salah has made 212 appearances for Liverpool, registering 134 goals and 50 assists.
This season, he has registered an impressive nine goals and three assists from just nine appearances in all competitions.
And against Manchester City, Salah scored a sensational solo effort and also set up the opening goal for Sadio Mane.
The Egyptian has averaged 21 goals per season across the last three Premier League campaigns.
However, Salah’s contract runs out in 2023 and no agreement has yet been brokered.
“His numbers have been sensational the last few seasons,” Sutton said on BBC Radio 5 Live.
“To do it on that stage, which he has done for so many years, it just sums up how brilliant he is.
“Consistency is what you look for and he is doing it season after season after season where others are falling away – and Liverpool still haven’t signed him up.”
The Independent claims Salah is seeking wages of between £300,000 and £380,000-a-week on a contract until at least 2025.
