Chris Sutton has labelled Eddie Howe as a “perfect” managerial appointment for Celtic amid reports, claiming he will give supporters renewed hope after a difficult season.

According to the Scottish Sun, Howe has agreed in principle to take charge at Celtic and become the club’s new manager.

It is explained that he’s set to sign a £2million a year deal with the Bhoys, with an official announcement expected early next week.

The report details that the details were being sorted on Friday night, and the club are “confident” of hiring the Englishman.

Additionally, it’s expected he will get “sizeable” war chest to revamp the squad.

Sutton has given a massive thumbs up on the manager that he thinks will prove to be a popular appointment.

“Eddie Howe has the style. He’s got the substance. He could be absolutely perfect for Celtic,” Sutton wrote for the Daily Record.

“The former Bournemouth boss ticks a lot of boxes for my old club.

“Howe is a front-foot coach. He gets after teams. He wants his sides to be attacking and attractive and that would go down a storm.

“He’d be an excellent appointment. And one that would give fans hope that things are about to turn back in their club’s favour.”

Howe enjoyed an incredible rise with Bournemouth in England after managing them in each of the top four divisions.

His success with them in the Premier League over a number of years created his status as a top young manager, who is still only 43 years old.

After blowing the chance to win 10 league titles in a row and watching rivals Rangers capitalise to win the crown, Celtic desperately need a big lift to get supporters happy again.

It looks like the ex-Bournemouth manager has the perfect CV to succeed in Scotland.
