Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard came in for huge praise from Chris Sutton during the Gunners’ 5-0 win over Burnley.
The 25-year-old opened the scoring for Arsenal with a well-taken effort from outside the box after Gabriel Martinelli whipped the ball into his path.
Sutton, covering the game on BBC Radio 5 Live, loved what he saw from Odegaard, deeming his effort “devastating” and “the purest of strikes”.

“What a finish this is,” he said, as per the BBC Sport website. “It’s absolutely brilliant. Arsenal’s first real attack.
“Martinelli feeds it to Martin Odegaard and he takes one touch and hammers a left-footed shot into the corner.
“It was a really good first touch and it is a devastating finish.
“He pings the ball into the corner. It is the purest of strikes and Arsenal are off to a flyer again.”

Bukayo Saka then coolly slotted in a penalty just before the break before Odegaard assisted the 22-year-old with a defence-splitting through-ball for his second.
Leandro Trossard got on the scoresheet in the 66th minute, netting after a Kai Havertz toe-poke was blocked into the Belgian’s path.
Then, on 78 minutes, Havertz rounded off the scoring, nutmegging Dara O’Shea and firing past James Trafford to wrap up a 5-0 win.
Another amazing display from Arsenal and another superb display from Odegaard, who’s arguably the most in-form player in the Premier League right now.
The Gunners are right back in the title picture and it’ll be exciting to see how they continue to fare in arguably one of the most exciting title races in recent years.
