Chris Sutton says 59-year-old could replace Frank Lampard at Everton now
Chris Sutton thinks that David Moyes could be set for a managerial return to Everton before the end of the season.
Moyes is currently under pressure at West Ham and the Telegraph are reporting that the east London club are looking at replacements.
Frank Lampard is also feeling the heat at Goodison Park after Everton surrendered a 1-0 lead at home to basement club Southampton on Saturday.
Sutton gave his thoughts on the situation to the BBC’s Monday Night Club and thinks the 59-year-old could go back to Merseyside.
Sutton thinks Moyes could go back to Everton
He said: “Did I see a story doing that rounds of the possibility of David Moyes going back to Everton?
“I mean that, I don’t think that’s impossible you know. I don’t think it’s impossible. That would be a really interesting one if it happened.”
Everton have spent a fortune and tried to push on since Moyes left for Manchester United in 2013, but have actually descended into more of a mess.
Some fans may despair that the club is in a position where they need to call for the man who left them ten years ago, and who is also embroiled in the same relegation battle as them, to try and save them in 2023.
There are also other issues at the club, with plenty of ire being aimed at the board after the Southampton to defeat and that is something any new manager would need to navigate.
West Ham host Everton on Saturday afternoon in what is looking increasingly like a huge game, which may dictate the fates of both Moyes and Lampard.
