Chris Sutton says £2m Rangers star who’s at Euro 2020 has ‘hugely improved’ one area of his game
Chris Sutton claims that Rangers star Borna Barisic has drastically improved the defensive side of his game.
Barisic, 28, was one of the ever-presents in the starting XI during a phenomenal season for the Gers. However, his campaign has stretched into Euro 2020 this summer with his country Croatia.
He’s an attack-minded left-back that has been dynamite going forward since his move to Ibrox for £2million three years ago.
He scored five goals in 50 Rangers appearances this season. In addition, he delivered an amazing return of 14 assists with his quality from set-picas a major factor.
Pundit Sutton feels though like he’s just as impressive now with his back to goal. His defensive work has sharpened up, so he now looks the complete full-back.
“Hugely improved defensively under Steven Gerrard at Rangers. Terrific delivery when he gets into the final third and dangerous from set pieces,” Sutton wrote for the Daily Mail.
Barisic an outrageous bargain at £2m
Some of the transfer business conducted by Rangers in the past few years has been staggering.
Barisic, who may start for Croatia against England on Sunday in Euro 2020, is a favourite under Rangers boss Steven Gerrard.
Barisic, along with Gers right-back James Tavernier, look much stronger defensively. For all the attacking quality at Ibrox, a major part of them winning the league title was the consistency of the goalkeeper and the back four.
Barisic is in the prime of his career, and surely he’s worth 20 times what the Scottish giants paid to sign him.
