Chris Sutton says £28m Aston Villa player absolutely wouldn’t join Chelsea now

There are a lot of problems at Chelsea right now.

The Blues have just suffered a 4-1 defeat against Wolves in one of the most embarrassing games we can remember Chelsea playing for a long time, and there are some serious issues at Stamford Bridge right now.

There are so many problems, but the one issue that many keep coming back to is the striking issue.

Indeed, Chelsea don’t have a proper prolific number nine on their books right now, and that’s something they need to address in the summer.

Speaking on BBC 606, Chris Sutton has been taking calls from Chelsea fans about their recent woes, and one supporter suggested Ollie Watkins as a potential signing.

However, Sutton, rightly, said that Watkins would have no interest in joining Chelsea right now, claiming that the £28m man wouldn’t want to go to Chelsea now.

Sutton shared his verdict on the Aston Villa ace.

“We need someone like Ollie Watkins, the fact we were too busy with other strikers. Even if we bought a Championship striker just to fill in the gap,” One caller said.

“What? Buy a Championship striker? And why would Ollie Watkins want to go to Chelsea when he’s flying at a successful club?” Sutton said.

Why would he?

Watkins would be absolutely perfect for Chelsea, but as Sutton says, why on earth would the player want to head to west London now?

Aston Villa have something special brewing right now, while Chelsea look to be on the slide of all slides.

There’s a real issue ongoing at Chelsea right now, and if Watkins were to head to Stamford Bridge, his career could seriously suffer.

We really can’t see Watkins opting to make this move, even if Chelsea offer big money.
