Chris Sutton praised Rangers on social media and was impressed by their European success on Wednesday night.

Steven Gerrard’s team beat Braga 1-0 in Portugal, which gave them a 4-2 aggregate victory to progress to the next round of the Europa League.

Ryan Kent’s second-half goal gave the Light Blues the win in Wednesday’s clash away from home and they are now in the pot for the Europa League last-16 draw.

The Scottish giants looked a serious threat going forward, while defensively they shut up shop and proved against quality opposition what a good side they can be on their day.

Braga sit third in the Liga Nos table and were considered favourites for the title, but Rangers continue their remarkable run in Europe this season and now watch Old Firm rivals Celtic try to progress to the last-16 on Thursday against Copenhagen.

Pundit Sutton hailed Rangers on Twitter after their win.

TBR’s View:

Rangers once again defied the odds to continue their brilliant European campaign and there is no reason why their supporters can’t continue dreaming if they continue performing like they did away to Braga.

They have shown in Europe they are capable of mixing it with quality opposition, which makes their indifferent league form in 2020 even more frustrating for them.

But they need to use their last victory as a catalyst to kick on and it can be a real stepping stone for players like George Edmundson and Florian Kamberi to kick on.
