Celtic are out of the Champions League after a disheartening defeat to Romanian side CFR Cluj at Parkhead.
The Bhoys were finely poised at 1-1 from the first-leg in Transylvania but put in a poor performance to find themselves on the losing side.
Cluj eventually won the game 4-3, totalling up to a 5-3 aggregate win that left Celtic fans stunned at the final whistle.
One such fan is former Celtic striker Chris Sutton. The BT Sport presenter is never one to mince his words and this occasion was no different. Taking to Twitter after the game, he stated his belief that Celtic’s poor recent transfer windows have again been to blame for their exit from the Champions League.
That’s the Tierney money gone tonight… the messing about in the last few windows has bitten Celtic on the backside… this day was always coming…

Whilst Celtic have held a stranglehold on the domestic scene in recent years, the club’s lack of forward progress in Europe has been alarming.
The Bhoys have now made it an alarming habit to fall at the qualifying hurdle of the Champions League. In recent years, Maribor, Malmo and AEK Athens have also sent Celtic packing and fans have been hoping for a better performance in Europe for some time.
The manner of their defeat will be most alarming and Celtic fans will no doubt hope that Sutton is not correct about the money from Kieran Tierney’s sale to Arsenal.
Celtic clearly still need to improve areas of their squad if they are to hold off a title challenge from Rangers and have any success in the Europa League this season.
