Aberdeen have confirmed a deal to sign Jonny Hayes on a free transfer, three years after the winger joined Celtic from Aberdeen – and Chris Sutton has stated his surprise at Celtic allowing the experienced ace to leave.
Hayes, 32, joined Celtic in the summer of 2017 after clocking up 24 assists in the 2016-17 campaign for Derek McInnes’ side. He has has since clocked up 68 appearances for Celtic in three seasons.
The Ireland international helped Celtic continue their consecutive run of Scottish Premiership triumphs, but was confirmed as leaving Parkhead this summer earlier this month – along with Jozo Simunovic.

BBC Sport have now reported, among other reputable sites, that Hayes has agreed a move to Aberdeen where he is expected to agree a deal with the Dons – a club where he previously played 202 times before hand.
An announcement is believed to be confirmed this week, subject to a medical despite Aberdeen recently announcing losses of £5million amid the current global health crisis.
Celtic icon Sutton reacted to the news that Hayes was about to leave the Scottish champions and join fourth-placed side Aberdeen on a free – and stated his surprise that the Hoops have allowed that to happen.
