Liverpool full backs Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold combined for Liverpool’s second goal of their 4-3 win over RB Salzburg last night.
It was a nervy second half for the Reds, but Chris Sutton still wanted to praise the full back duo for their attacking intent, in the Daily Mail.
He said: “In fact, Wednesday night was the first time Trent Alexander-Arnold had assisted Andy Robertson in a match. That moment, summed up the importance and fearlessness of this full back duo. Alexander-Arnold and Robertson are two of the best in Europe and essential to the Jurgen Klopp style of play.
“They push high up the pitch. They add to the attack. If you allow them time and space in those wide areas, they will hurt you.”

TBR’s View – Full backs’ attacking qualities are well-known but the pair need to help Liverpool improve defensively
Liverpool got the win in the end but it would be a major shock if Jurgen Klopp wasn’t concerned about the way his side defended a three-goal lead last night.
Neither Robertson or Alexander-Arnold did anything particularly wrong on the goals, but the pair must play their part in ensuring a collapse like that doesn’t happen in Premier League action.
Liverpool have been skating by, getting results from less than vintage displays in recent weeks and everyone needs to up their game to make sure they get back to top form before those performances are punished.
