Chris Sutton says that “impeccable” West Ham talent Declan Rice is a player that is getting much better with the ball at his feet.
Rice, along with his England teammates, are currently preparing for their first game of Euro 2020 against Croatia on Sunday.
The 22-year-old Hammers midfielder is included in most people’s predicted XI’s, and he usually starts for Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate.
Despite the fact it’s his first ever senior international tournament, there is big pressure on his shoulders.
He’s likely to sit in a deep-lying midfield position breaking up play and dictating the ball.
Pundit Sutton has highlighted the individual ability of the West Ham ace ahead of Sunday. For example, he’s pointed out his improvement in possession.
“The protector, or ‘CDM’ as the kids call it now. Can put out fires with his impeccable positioning and now better at carrying the ball,” Sutton wrote in the Daily Mail.

West Ham fans know Declan Rice can shine for England
England’s midfield area isn’t as blessed as it was during the Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and Paul Scholes era. Fortunately, there are a couple of talents who can do a superb job in Southgate’s XI.
Rice, who looks more mature than an average 22-year-old, is going to be so vital screening the England defence.
He’s shown on a weekly basis in a West Ham shirt what he’s capable of.
Meanwhile, it could be either Kalvin Phillips, Mason Mount, Jude Bellingham or Jordan Henderson who partners him in the centre of the park.
