Manchester City versus Arsenal. You couldn’t have asked for a bigger fixture on the first Premier League matchweek after the March international break.
We have one of the most exciting title races in recent years taking place, with the Citizens and the Gunners facing off in a ‘triple threat’ alongside Liverpool.
Arsenal currently sit top of the standings on 64 points, but Liverpool are level on points in second and Man City are just a point behind in third.
On Sunday afternoon, Man City and Arsenal will lock horns in pursuit of what would be an iconic title for both clubs – indeed, for all three.

The Citizens would become the first club in English football history to win four titles in a row if they triumph this season. Meanwhile, Arsenal would be winning their first title since 2004.
For what it’s worth, Liverpool would be winning their 20th English title if they triumph, and in Jurgen Klopp’s last season at Anfield too. Needless to say, it matters a lot for all three teams.
Who does Chris Sutton think will win between Manchester City and Arsenal?
Chris Sutton has been previewing and predicting each and every Premier League fixture this season.
This week, he has provided an in-depth preview of the meeting between Man City and Arsenal.
Sutton, writing on BBC Sport, reckons it’ll be a “cagey” encounter between the two, as was the case at the Emirates Stadium in October.
He also expressed concern about how Man City haven’t been as free-flowing and are also yet to beat any other teams in the top five in the league this season.
Nonetheless, Sutton reckons they’ll have just enough to get the better of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium, predicting a 1-0 home win.
“If City lose this then they will be four points behind the Gunners with nine games to go and, on the face of it, it could be curtains for them,” wrote Sutton.
“But, at times like this, I judge City on how they have delivered in the past, especially at the Etihad.
“That’s why I am still going to back Pep Guardiola’s side, even though they have not quite been at the level they reached last season.
“Whatever happens here, though, the title race is not over for anyone.
“All we have learned so far is that we have got three incredible teams, and I don’t see any of them dropping away before the end of the season.”
TR writer’s prediction for Man City v Arsenal
Both teams are in great form for the game. Manchester City haven’t lost a game since December, while Arsenal have won their last eight in the league and have also progressed in the Champions League.
With the stakes so high between two world-class teams fighting it out for the Premier League, let’s hope for an exciting encounter.
In terms of what I reckon will happen, I think Arsenal will have just enough to get the better of last season’s treble winners. Let’s go 2-1 to the Gunners.
