Tottenham Hotspur are one of the most interesting teams in the Premier League heading into this season.

Spurs have been busy this summer, signing numerous players for big money, and while they were underwhelming towards the end of last season, they were brilliant for the first few weeks of the 2023/24 season.

Dominic Solanke has arrived at Tottenham as Spurs’ marquee signing of the summer.

The England international has joined Tottenham in a club-record £65m deal, and there’s plenty of intrigue about this deal.

Speaking on BBC 606, Chris Sutton has been discussing Spurs’ deal for Solanke.

The pundit says that he thinks Solanke will be a good signing. Although he did admit that he hasn’t always been convinced by the striker as a player.

Chris Sutton’s verdict on Dominic Solanke at Tottenham

Sutton shared his verdict on Solanke, claiming that he will be a solid signing.

“Solanke is decent, he’s a good signing for them. I know people speak about it being £65m, but he scored 19 goals last season, over a third of their goals. I think he will be a good fit for Tottenham. I wasn’t always sure about him but I think after losing Harry Kane, I think he will do well there,” Sutton said.

Dominic Solanke signing could be a risk

On the surface, Dominic Solanke looks like he could be a brilliant signing for Tottenham.

Solanke banged in 19 league goals last season in a team that wasn’t all that creative, so, logic suggests, he could his 20+ for Tottenham.

However, last season was the first time in his career that Solanke has hit double figures in terms of Premier League goals, and that may just be a rare purple patch in what has been a career that has underdelivered so far.

Solanke could be a star for Tottenham, but the former Bournemouth man is far from a sure thing after just one good season in the Premier League.

Solanke had a decent debut for Tottenham on Monday, and he will be hoping to build on that.
