Chris Sutton has delivered his instant verdict on Celtic’s win over Feyenoord tonight as they got their winless run in the Champions League off their back.
Brendan Rodgers would have been delighted to end a 15-game winless run in the Champions League and Sutton said that although the game was a ‘dead rubber’, the Celtic players deserve a lot of credit for stepping up.
Sutton said on X, “Well at least the home record rot has stopped even if it was a dead rubber.
“Worst ever as a player going into a game with just pride to play for and to the player’s credit they did that.”
The win just leaves me with feelings of ‘what ifs’. What if Celtic held out against Lazio? What if they hadn’t tired against Atletico Madrid in the 2-2 draw?
And what if they had just held on at 0-0 in Rome when a point would have been a great result? In the end, Celtic pick up a valuable win as it will give their confidence a massive boost heading into the final three domestic fixtures in December.

Tonight’s win will do so many players in that Celtic team a world of good. Mikey Johnston gave a decent account of himself. Joe Hart was brilliant between the sticks and what about Gustaf Lagerbielke?
Left out in the cold, the Swedish defender showed his worth to Celtic as he popped up at the back post to nod home the 90th-minute header. Lagerbielke has now given Rodgers some food for thought moving forward.
With Hearts up next then followed up with Livingston, Rodgers must ensure a win in each of those games to set up a huge Glasgow Derby on the 30th which could have a huge bearing on the destination of the league title.
