Chris Sutton has named three Celtic player and three Rangers stars in his Scottish Premiership team of the week, as the Hoops made it eight in a row on Saturday.
Celtic cruised to a 3-0 win at Pittodrie over Aberdeen, thanks to goals from Mikael Lustig, Jozo Simunovic and Odsonne Edouard. Rangers restored the nine-point gap on Sunday, beating Hibernian 1-0.
With only two league games to play, Celtic’s win earned them the Scottish Premiership title as Neil Lennon continued Brendan Rodgers’ start to the campaign. They remain on course for a triple treble.
Rangers also dominated proceedings and should have scored more than just the one goal. Goalscorers Jermain Defoe, Simunovic and Lustig were included, as were Callum McGregor, Ryan Jack and Steven Davis.
Rangers take on Celtic next week in the penultimate league game before the end of the season, with Celtic currently leading in Old Firm wins by 2-1 this season.
Steven Gerrard’s side could reduce the gap between the two Glasgow enemies, by beating Neil Lennon’s side. Lennon will be desperate to win, as a Celtic victory at Ibrox may be a huge boost in his bid to win the Celtic job permanently.
