Chris Sutton makes bold scoreline prediction for Ipswich v Tottenham clash

Tottenham Hotspur take on Ipswich Town on Saturday in a bid to make amends for their shock defeat to the Blues back in November.

Spurs have had a particularly difficult few weeks, but they go into their next Premier League game on the back of a win over Manchester United.

Tottenham have managed to pull off some great results against top teams, only to then lose against clubs they were favourites to beat.

Ipswich are one such team, having been in relegation trouble for much of the season, yet their first win of the campaign was at Tottenham.

The Blues currently sit 18th in the table, having picked up a creditable draw at Aston Villa last time out.

Chris Sutton has now predicted how the two teams will fare at Portman Road in Saturday’s 3pm kick-off.

Chris Sutton backs Ipswich to draw with Tottenham

Sutton believes Ipswich will remain unbeaten against Tottenham this season, though he doesn’t think they have quite enough to get another win.

“Ipswich got a great battling point against Aston Villa last week but wins are what they need in their situation at the bottom of the table,” he wrote on BBC Sport.

“They beat Tottenham earlier in the season to get their first victory of the campaign and another one would be absolutely massive for them.

“I really hope they do it – not for me, but for my daughter’s teacher, Mr Fields who is a big Tractor Boys fan. But this game is big for Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou too.

“Having James Maddison back fit obviously helps Spurs, and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario also played really well against Manchester United on his return from injury too.

“So, while my first thought was that Ipswich could get some joy from playing on the counter-attack, I am going with a draw.”

Paul Merson has also predicted how Tottenham will fare away at Ipswich on Saturday.

Ipswich v Tottenham team news

Ipswich defender Axel Tuanzebe is unavailable due to suspension following his red card against Villa last Saturday.

Leif Davis, Sam Morsy and Sammie Szmodics have been passed fit and Conor Chaplin will be assessed.

However, Julio Enciso has joined Wes Burns, Chiedozie Ogbene and Christian Walton on the sidelines.

Tottenham’s injury crisis is showing signs of easing, with Guglielmo Vicario and James Maddison returning to the starting line-up against Man United last weekend.

Brennan Johnson, Wilson Odobert and Destiny Udogie made the bench, while Rodrigo Bentancur, Kevin Danso and Son Heung-min are available despite being forced off last week.
