Craig Dawson continued his stunning form at West Ham this season with another sparkling performance as the Hammers earned a 2-0 win over Leeds United at the London Stadium – earning praise from Chris Sutton, Declan Rice and James Collins.

Dawson, 30, clocked up his 15th league and cup appearance for the Hammers since joining on loan from Championship side Watford – where he was struggling to get game time. When he joined West Ham, many questioned the signing.

Turning 31 in May, though, Dawson has been near perfect for West Ham – proving to be another example of David Moyes shining in the market. He joins a list of Moyes signings that are impressing, such as Vladimir Coufal, Tomas Soucek and Jesse Lingard.

The English defender kept a clean sheet against Leeds, though he and West Ham had to ride their luck. He scored West Ham’s second, which is already his fourth in 15 outings. Sutton applauded the signing, stating he has an affect on his teammates.

“West Ham had a dreadful defensive record last season, and I think that shows how important Craig Dawson has been. He is a calming influence on them,” Sutton said, while covering the match for BBC Radio 5 Live.

Moyes has already stated that Dawson is “worthy” of a permanent contract at West Ham and he certainly has had an instant impact with the Hammers. It will be interesting to see how many years West Ham offer Dawson, when that comes around.

Rice took to his Instagram story to rave about Dawson, explaining how delighted he was for the Watford loanee. Collins, a West Ham favourite and also a centre-back, responded to the club’s post about Dawson – labelling him as “on fire”.
